The Daily: St. Louis Blues Finger-Pointing; Ryan Reynolds Wants Senators
The St. Louis Blues’ record of 3-7 ranks 31st out of 32 NHL teams. The finger-pointing has already started in St. Louis.
Jeremy Rutherford of the Athletic reported that on multiple occasions a veteran Blues has talked to Jordan Kyrou about his “lackadaisical performance.” After signing a big contract (eight years, $65 million) this offseason, Kyrou is -15 in the Blues’ first 10 games.
He’s not the only Blues player with statistical struggles. Much-respected Ryan O’Reilly shows one goal in 10 games. The team’s defensive play hasn’t been sharp. Torey Krug is -11. Colton Parayko is -8.
The Detroit Red Wings have also contributed to the Blues’ poor start by signing David Perron and trading for goalie Ville Husso who was about to become a free agent. Both Perron and Husso were vital contributors to the Blues last season. Perron seemed to have superb chemistry with O’Reilly and Husso had a breakthrough season with the Blues. Both Perron and Husso are playing well for the Red Wings.
Did Doug Armstrong make the right personnel decisions? It’s easy to be a Monday morning quarterback when things don’t go well.
Senators Update

Bob Duff writes that the Detroit Red Wings are off to their best start in 11 years.
Riding a three-game winning streak, coach Derek Lalonde‘s hot Wings are not cooling off.
Days off have hurt the Red Wings in the early going this season. They have lost three games this season when they didn’t have a practice the day before.
