The Daily: Boughner Has No Grudge vs. Sharks; Huberdeau-Sutter Tension

Detroit Red Wings Associate coach Bob Boughner isn’t going into tonight’s game against the San Jose Sharks thinking he has a grudge to settle.
Boughner was San Jose’s coach from 2019 until he was fired last July. The timing was inconsiderate because Boughner had no opportunity to interview for other job openings. But the timing was right for the Red Wings who hired Boughner quickly to be Derek Lalonde’s right-hand man.
“In our world, in our scope of job, you’d like to have that opportunity to be able to talk to other teams, and it was too late in the game for that,” Boughner told San Jose Hockey Now. “But at the end of the day, I hold no grudges.”
That doesn’t mean this won’t be a special game for Boughner. He knows many of the players on the Sharks team and they know him. But those relationships must take a back seat tonight because this is an important game for the Red Wings. The Detroit squad is on a four-game losing skid. If they can win this game and Saturday’s game in Columbus they can salvage their road trip.
