The Daily: Jarry 1st Penguins Goalie To Score; Sharks Trade Talk

Tristan Jarry, Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins clearly own the highest-scoring goalie tandem in the NHL today. Tristan Jarry and former Red Wings goalie Alex Nedeljkovic now have five professional goals between them.

Jarry became the first Penguins goalie to score in an NHL game when he ripped a shot all the way down the ice, into an empty net, during a 4-2 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday.

Two weeks ago,  Penguins backup Alex Nedeljkovic was on a conditioning stint with the Penguins’ Wilkes-Barre Scranton AHL team and scored his third professional goal. It was his second AHL tally. He also scored during an ECHL game on Dec. 30, 2016.

Jarry, 28, netted his AHL goal five years ago. As the video shows, Jarry’s goal against the Lightning was a no-doubter. It’s a strong, high shot.

Red Wings Next Game

The Red Wings  (12-7-3) will be on the road to face the Montreal Canadiens in their next game Saturday night. The Habs are coming off a 5-1 loss to the Florida Panthers, but they have won three of their last five. The Red Wings finally have their power play going again. They have scored a power play goal in five consecutive games for the first time since Feb. 9-16, 2023. Detroit is 8-for-24 (33.3 percent) with the man advantage over its last five contests. Lucas Raymond is hot. He has 16 points in his past 17 games.
