Edvinsson Must Still Prove to He Deserves To Wear The Winged Wheel | DHN+

GM Steve Yzerman wants Simon Edvinsson on that wall. He needs him on that well. But he’s not going to let Edvinsson stand post until he has earned that right.

“I think Simon has a good chance (to make the roster),” Yzerman said. “I can’t sit here today and tell you he’s definitely going to be in the lineup on opening night.”

Yzerman is not going to hand the 6-foot-6 Edvinsson a double-extra large Red Wings jersey and hope he grows into it. He still must prove to Yzerman that he deserves to wear it, like Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider did last season.
