Detroit Red Wings draft pick Robert Mastrosimone created some social media buzz Saturday night when he scored a memorable overtime goal to power Arizona State (8-7) to a 6-5 triumph over Minnesota (11-5).

The Red Wings 2019 second-round pick (54th overall ) scored on a partial breakaway, set-up by Arizona Coyotes draft pick Josh Doan. He’s the son of former NHL standout Shane Doan.

The sold-out Mullet Arena erupted when Mastrosimone’s shot found the back of the net. He finished the game with a goal and two assists to raise his season total to 16 points in 15 games.

Speedy Mastrosimone played his first three seasons at Boston University before transferring to Arizona State this past offseason.

Despite the loss, Minnesota moved into No. 1 spot in the USA TODAY/USA Hockey Magazine College Poll.
