The volume and constant updating of the NHL trade rumors floating around reached the point that Wikipedia had Winnipeg Jets forward Pierre-Luc Dubois listed with the Los Angeles Kings even though no trade was announced.

Hockey Hall of Fame-honored writer Helene Elliott caught that goof.

But the Dubois-to-Kings talk does appear to be close. LA Hockey Now writer Austin Stanovich is on top of the rumors. The Kings have already moved defenseman Sean Durzi to the Arizona Coyotes. Stanovich also takes a look at whether the Kings might take a run at reacquiring Tyler Toffoli.

Meanwhile, San Jose Hockey Now’s Sheng Peng reports that Erik Karlsson is “open-minded” about this trade destination. He expressed a willingness to return to Ottawa if it came to that.

Red Wings’ Offseason

The Detroit Red Wings continue to put a heavy emphasis on trying to acquire a proven scorer in the trade market. It still doesn’t appear they are willing to give up the No. 9 pick or a top prospect like Marco Kasper and Simon Edvinsson. It seems logical to conclude would have to give up their second first-round pick (No. 17) and maybe one of their three second-round picks. But as of last night, the Red Wings were not thought to be close to anything. But today is another day.

Red Wings In Case You Missed It

  •  Jakub Vrana talked about his departure from the Red Wings in an interview with a Czechia journalist.
  •  Will Austrian defenseman David Reinbacher be available when the Red Wings draft at No. 9?
  •  The Red Wings will draft another elite defenseman, according to Hockey Now’s new mock draft.
  • Red Wings fans may get a chance to see Connor Bedard very early in his NHL career. One of Detroit’s preseason games at Little Caesars Arena will feature the Blackhawks.
