The Daily: Kraken-Sharks Trade Chatter; Toews Retirement on Deck?
Patrice Bergeron’s retirement announcement Tuesday prompts wondering whether Jonathan Toews’ decision may be next. Chicago Hockey Now’s Nate Brown points out that nothing has been heard from Toews since he became a free agent July 1.
Toews, 35, is three years younger than Bergeron. Speculation is Toews will retire, but no official word has come from the former Blackhawks captain. At one point, there was some speculation about Toews possibly playing for the Winnipeg Jets in his native Manitoba. But there have been no rumors about that possibility coming out of Winnipeg.
All that anyone knows for sure is that Toews isn’t playing again for the Blackhawks
Boston Hockey Now’s Jimmy Murphy detailed Bergeron’s accomplishments and Toews’ list would be just as memorable. Toews has been as important to the Blackhawks as Bergeron was to the Bruins.
