Red Wings Draft Misses From 2014-2018 Have Slowed Rebuild (+)

Historians believe it took between 20 and 27 years for laborers to complete the block by block construction of Egypt’s Great Pyramid of Giza in 26 BC. At times, Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman probably feels it’s taking that long to rebuild his NHL team through the draft.

Yzerman has had five drafts during his time as commander-in-chief. The reviews have been good on his first round picks. But much like stacking 2.5-ton limestone blocks in the desert, the NHL development process takes time.
