It will be interesting to see if Petry is in the lineup Wednesday when the Red Wings play his former Pittsburgh Penguins team.

The. Wings get their first look at Adam Fantilli tonight. Columbus took Fantilli with the third overall pick in the NHL draft after a single season at the University of Michigan, where he won the Hobey Baker Award. His older brother, Luca, plays for Michigan. …

Alex DeBrincat is off to a hot start with his hometown team, with three goals in his first two games. At this pace, he would finish with 164 points, nine more than Steve Yzerman’s club record. While that’s unlikely, he could add to the torrid pace tonight against the Blue Jackets. DeBrincat has nine goals and 10 assists in 17 career games against Columbus. …

The Wings are averaging more than 40 shots per game in the early going, but coach Derek Lalonde isn’t counting on that to continue. “I don’t know if we’re a high-volume shot team. Certainly we weren’t last year. But we are obviously when we put up 40-some tonight. We obviously outshot New Jersey the other night. I just think some of those additions we talked about, what they add is we’ve got some shooters in there, too and they’ve been assertive.”…
