Things To Know

The Red Wings are firing on all cylinders in the early going, especially on the power play, where they are 9-for-18 this season. “We’ve found different ways to score,” forward David Perron said after Saturday’s 5-2 win at Ottawa. “It was nice getting the middle guy to score with Larks with the way he’s been supporting the puck in the O-zone. Our breakouts have been pretty good. We’re just gonna try to keep it going.” Perron had one of Detroit’s three power-play goals, the first time the Wings had that many in a road game since March 29, 2016. …

Coach Derek Lalonde: “I loved the fast that all of our power-play goals basically came off retrievals,” he said,  either a loose puck or a 50-50 along the wall that we turned into some quick offense. It’s huge momentum. Even the one we didn’t score on in the second, we scored a 5-on-5 goal right after, so really important for momentum.”

The event was set to be held Oct. 14, but was postponed due to heavy rain. …

Jonatan Berggren is on the Red Wings roster, but if he plays any time soon is still a question. …

The Flames are without defenseman Rasmus Andersson, who was suspended four games by the league for charging. He was ejected for elbowing Columbus forward Patrik Laine sith five seconds left in the Flames’ 3-1 loss at Columbus on Friday. The suspension begins today and will cost Andersson $95,000 in lost salary. …

Flames prospect Toni Ronni is off his junior team’s roster as he addresses a rape charge in Finland. He was charged in connection with an incident that occurred two years ago.
Rossi was Calgary’s third-round pick in 2022. …
