What to Know

The Red Wings put Ville Husso on injured reserve this morning.

He was injured in Monday’s loss to Anaheim. The Red Wings signed Michael Hutchinson to a two-way contract on Tuesday and promoted him from Grand Rapids to back up James Reimer tonight. Alex Lyon is also out, and coach Derek Lalonde doesn’t expect him back for a while: “Ville will be unavailable for us for a while here, so more in that week to week category. Alex had his first workout today but I do not see him available for us until probably after Christmas.” …

Klim Kostin also was put on IR and will be replaced by Austin Czarnik, who has already appeared  in 15 games this season. …

Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane played together for five seasons in Chicago, and their reunion in Detroit is off to a good start.. …

On the David Perron front, he had his hearing with the NHL about his suspension on Tuesday. “He still could be available potentially for us (today),” Lalonde said. “Obviously, he’s a very good player out six games. On the same play, 10 man games two guys in our top six and our top power play (were out). That’s more frustrating than the process.” …

Lalonde addressed Dylan Larkin’s concerns with player safety, but emphasized that his team needed to adjust to Larkin’s absence better than it did: “We have not handled the stretch of games we’ve had,” he said. “We have not handled having our top two centers out well. And we got to get it going. We’re healthy now. We have bodies back. Obviously, some issues with our goaltending injuries. But we got to keep moving forward. I understand Dylan’s frustration because I feel the same thing. But we got to move fast.”
