2023 Red Wings Draft Update: Finnie a Leader With Kamloops (+)

Emmitt Finnie found out he had been drafted by the Red Wings in a roundabout way.

“The morning of the draft, I was working out, so I wasn’t home when the draft started,” he said when interviewed by WHL.com last June. “I was watching it at the gym, and I found out I had been drafted when I was walking home and my phone started blowing up.”

The timing might have been a surprise, but the selection wasn’t.
