Nazem Kadri made a bit of Stanley Cup history on the weekend. The NHL’s first Muslim Cup winner used his day with Lord Stanley’s mug to bring it to a mosque in London. It’s believed to be the first the Cup has visited a mosque.

“The mosque is part of who I am,” Kadri told reporters, noted Steve Macfarlane of Calgary Hockey Now. “I think the community deserves it and they’ve been cheering me on a long time.”

Next, he wants to bring the Cup to Calgary for the first time since 1989.

“We’re going to try and run this thing back and I’m going to Calgary to get the job done,” Kadri said.

Stanley Cup Winner Kessel Gets Coyotes Ugly

Upon signing with the Vegas Golden Knights as an unrestricted free agent, forward two-time Stanley Cup winner Phil Kessel had some parting shots for his old club, the Arizona Coyotes.

“They said we were going to win and try to win and compete and obviously that’s not what happened and it’s going to be nice playing on a team that wants to win,” Kessel told reporters.
