Goalie Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins are $2.8 million apart in their arbitration case. The Bruins want a $2 million contract and Swayman is asking for $4.8 million.

Jimmy Murphy of Boston Hockey Now put all of that into perspective with his Bruins take this morning. He lays out this situation compares to the Toronto Maple Leafs’ arbitration with Ilya Samsonov.  The team offered $2.4 million and Samsonov wanted $4.9 million.

The ruling was a one-year deal for $3.55 million.   A comparable ruling on Swayman could cause some difficulty for the Bruins who have about $5.4 million in remaining cap space with other players to sign.
