Things to Know

Alex DeBrincat skated this morning after missing Wednesday’s practice due to illness. His availability will be a game-time decision. Jeff Petry is expected to be back Saturday, when the Red Wings are in Boston. And Klim Kostin isn’t far behind. Although the team may be short three players tonight, no call-ups from Grand Rapids are expected …

The Red Wings are on a six-game points streak despite Tuesday’s overtime loss, while the Jets have won two in a row. The Wings will play in Boston on Saturday, while the Jets will be in Montreal. …

Ville Husso has been off to a slow start for the Red Wings this season, but coach Derek Lalonde is still behind his netminder. “Obviously, there’s a couple goals he wants back,” Lalonde said after Tuesday’s loss. “It’s probably similar to his first couple starts where it’s not awful, he has made some big saves for us, but we just … the previous four games we played there were no soft goals in there, and there was a couple he would want back. But again, getting down 3-1 going into the third, getting a point was pretty big and he was a part of us getting that point.” …

The Jets are struggling on offense, to say the least: Winnipeg has scored 20 goals this season, whoe the Red Wings have scored 12 on the power play alone. “Anytime it goes out, it feels like it gives us a chance,” Lalonde said of his power-ply unit.. “Even early on, we had some good movement on it, some good touches. Just momentum, got us rolling. Obviously huge there in the third.”…

Lalonde also praised Tuesday’s refs for being accountable in a couple of cases where calls went against the Wings, including one where Seattle’s Jaden Schwartz threw his stick at Olli Maatta wh8le Maatta was skating in on Seattle’s goal. ““I give the ref a ton of credit,” Lalonde said. “He came right to me after the period and said he wanted that one back. That’ll go a long ways for me with Mitch. I love refs that communicate like that. Just came over and said, ‘Hey, we missed it.’ Apologize. I appreciate that a ton. Gave me a lot of respect for Mitch (Dunning) and his crew tonight.”
