Grading the Red Wings Summer Reinforcements (+)

The Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman commitment to pushing for the playoffs this season was confirmed by his managerial aggressiveness. This season’s Detroit roster includes 10 new players Yzerman acquired through trade or free agency in the offseason. That’s 43.4% of the roster.

Yzerman attempted to stabilize his goaltending, upgrade his offense and give the team more push-back.  Did he succeed in that mission? With only 12 games played, it’s too early for a conclusion. However, it’s clear the new players have helped the team enjoy a quality start. The Red Wings (7-4-1) have picked up one point in eight of the 12 games.
