The launch of the 2022-23 NHL season is just over a month away. But the NHL fountain of rumors is still spitting out tales of teams trying to dump or add players. Jason Zucker. Craig Smith. Evan Rodrigues. Montreal Canadiens. Pittsburgh Penguins.

Plenty of teams and names are bubbling to the surface.

Hall of Fame writer Dave Molinari explained why the Pittsburgh Penguins turned down a chance this offseason to move Zucker and his $5.5 million salary. The Penguins expected more than they have received from Zucker.

Philly Hockey Now looked at whether the Philadelphia Flyers made a run at Zucker.

Meanwhile, Boston Hockey Now’s Jimmy Murphy theorizes that Craig Smith could be the player who is moved when the Bruins’ injured players are all back in December.

The Montreal Canadiens are $10 million over the cap. Even after goaltender Carey Price goes on LTIR, Montreal won’t have much cap space left. GM Kent Hughes said the Montreal Canadiens are talking trades.
