Watch the video: Young Red Wings Fan Thrilled to Be on Jumbotron
Sometimes you need a child’s perspective to remember how much fun being a fan should be. A young Detroit Red Wings fan became tickled to be featured multiple times on the Jumbotron wearing a Red Wings jersey.

The video board operator had some fun poking fun at people wearing Sharks’ jerseys in the Detroit arena. Everyone booed each time a San Jose fan appeared on the big board. Then, fans cheered robustly when the child dressed in the Red Wings’ sweater appeared.
As you can imagine, the child’s excitement level rose with each appearance.
It was a good night for the home fans at Little Caesars Arena. The Detroit players gave their fans something to cheer about by thumping the Sharks, 6-2, to stay competitive in the wild card race. Tyler Bertuzzi and Pius Suter had two goals each.
The Detroit squad are out west now for a three-game road trip that starts in Anaheim Thursday and continues Saturday in Los Angeles and Tuesday in San Jose.
Detroit’s next game at Little Caesars arena is Jan. 13 against the Winnipeg Jets. The Red Wings are 12-5-2 at home. As a result, they are one point behind the Boston Bruins in the wild card race. Their problems have been on the road this season: they are 4-10-1 in away games.
