The Daily: Bruins Still Want Bertuzzi; Will ‘Hawks Seek Tarasenko?

The Boston Bruins just won’t give up when it comes to Tyler Bertuzzi. The Bruins reportedly are trying to re-sign Bertuzzi and Garnet Hathaway who both become UFAs on July 1.

Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman, one of the best when it comes to breaking potential trades and signings, said on his 32 thoughts podcast that the Bruins still keep talking to Bertuzzi. Ever since Bertuzzi arrived in Boston, the Bruins have been fascinated by his combination of his grit and goal-scoring.

Trying to persuade Bertuzzi to stay is a difficult task. His actions this season suggest that his objective is to test the free agent marketplace. Unquestionably, Bertuzzi, 28, is looking to hit a home run on a long-term deal.

Red Wings’ Offseason

The Hershey Bears won the AHL championship Wednesda with a 3-2 Game 7 overtime win against the Coachella Valley Firebirds. The Bears have some Detroit Red Wings/Grand Rapids Griffins connections. Hershey coach Todd Nelson was the Griffins’ coach when they won the Calder Cup in 2017. Bears defenseman Dylan McIlrath previously played with the Griffins and briefly with the Red Wings in 2018-19 and 2019-20
