Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman was awarded a one-year contract worth $3.475 million.

It’s been a rough summer for the Boston Bruins, Atlantic Division rivals of the Detroit Red Wings.

Captain Patrice Bergeron was announcing his retirement. Expectations are that foward David Krejci will be following suit. The club was jettisoning top-six forward Taylor Hall to the Chicago Blackhawks in a salary dump.

On Tuesday, an abitration hearing was awarding Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman a one-year, $3.475-million contract. Earlier, Boston forward Trent Frederic and the team were reaching agreement on a two-year deal with $4.6 million.

This leaves the Bruins with 22 players under contract and $417,000 in projected available salary cap space. The minimum salary for an NHL player is $750,000, so yeah, Boston has a bit of a money crunch on its hands.
