Will Red Wings Make Playoffs? Don’t Bet On It
Online betting sites setting odds against a Detroit postseason appearance
The Detroit Red Wings were missing the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs via tiebreaker. After all was said and done, they were coming up one point shy of being postseason partiticpants.
Accordingly, there’s certainly a buzz among the team’s fanbase entering the 2024-25 season. All in all, they believe this will be the season the club finally brings a halt to their eight-season absence from the NHL postseason.
Mind you, that’s not how oddsmakers are seeing things turning out for the club. Betting lines are out for the 2024-25 NHL season. Those lines aren’t lining up with a Red Wings playoff appearance.
At FanDuel.com Sportsbook, they are setting the Red Wings at odds of +124 to be making the playoffs. Detroit is given a betting line of -160 to miss the playoffs.
For those not fluent in gambling parlance, odds with a negative number indicate that outcome is more likely to happen. A betting line of -160 means you’d need to bet $160 to realize a $100 profit on your wager. Mweanwhile, with a +124 betting line, your profit on a $100 wager would be $124. Other betting lines relating to the Red Wings show that they are the fifth betting choice to win the Atlantic Division title at odds of +1200. Detroit is ninth in line to be Eastern Conference champions at betting odds of +2000. As far as winning the Stanley Cup, the lines are setting the Red Wings as the co-19th choice among the 32 NHL teams at a betting line of +5000.
Additionally, oddsmakers are setting Detroit at -130 odds to be collecting 90+ points during the 2024-25 NHL season. The Red Wings are +260 to get 100+ points and +1000 to manage to collect 110+ points.

FanDuel is also providing betting lines on the major NHL season-ending awards, including a number of Red Wings in these odds. For instance, defenseman Moritz Seider is +6000 to win the Norris Trophy.

Three Red Wings forwards are all given odds to win the Hart Trophy as the NHL’s MVP. Alex DeBrincat is at +20000, followed by Lucas Raymond (+30000) and Patrick Kane (+50000). There are four Detroit goalies with betting lines in the Vezina Trophy odds. Alex Lyon is at +10000, with Ville Husso (+15000), Cam Talbot (+25000) and Sebastian Cossa (+25000) next on line.
Oddsmakers are also setting Cossa with a betting line of +10000 to win the Calder Trophy. That award is for the league’s best rookie. Detroit coach Derek Lalonde is being given a line of +2500 to be earning the Jack Adams Trophy, which will be going to the league’s top coach.
